Current Research Partnership Activities
Assessment of communication skills in preschool children with physical and multiple disabilities.
This project is also being funded by a Speech Pathology Australia Clinician Research Grant awarded to Gayle Porter, and is a collaboration between the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre and the Communication Research Centre. Gayle and Teresa Iacono are coding data obtained using structured and unstructured sampling procedures to plot three preschool children's levels of communication over a year of early intervention within the CPEC program. Of particular interest are their responses to the scaffolds provided during interactions with a clinician, and their interactions with their parents.
- Determinants of Problem Behaviour in People with Intellectual Disability.
The Communication Resource Centre is a research partner with the Centre for Developmental Disability Health Victoria, Noweyung Adults Services, Bairnsdale and East Gippsland Department of Human Services. The aim of the project is to investigate the extent to which environmental, physical and mental health, and communication difficulties contribute to behaviours in people with intellectual disability. This project is funded by a grant from beyondblue.
