
Chat Now – Don’t start from scratch! Use CHAT–NOW to create aided language materials

Course content: : This workshop will cover:
- The importance of starting early with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Addressing ‘Frequently asked Questions’ you have or get asked when beginning AAC with young children
- A new generic template resource to assist you to ‘get started’ with developing aided language materials called ‘CHAT–NOW’– Children’s Aided language Tools’ (Developed by The Communication Resource Centre) This resource is built on current theoretical perspectives of aided language development and substantial clinical experience using aided language supports. ‘CHAT–NOW’ also includes a comprehensive manual for AAC interventionists on the principles of aided language stimulation, as well as reproducible information handouts for families and universal early childhood service providers e.g childcare and kinder staff.
- Participants will receive the new ‘CHAT-NOW’ Resource Package (including CD and Manual) as part of the attending the workshop
Who should attend: Working in the field of early childhood speech pathology or other early childhood intervention service area eg therapist/teacher and supporting young children with complex communication needs within a family/person centred context.
