Adult Services
The Specialist Services team complement the Adult Services provided by Scope. Specialist Services
consists of a range of skilled and experienced staff including physiotherapists, speech pathologists,
occupational therapists and psychologists. The team, together with other Adult Services staff, offers the
following benefits :
- work in partnership with clients, families and carers
- provide high quality and innovative services
- focus on individuals, and consider flexible approaches to meeting the needs of people who have a
disability
- work towards community participation
- provide services that promote quality of life
- work collaboratively with the community to promote improved services to clients
What services are provided?
Assessment
Assessment to identify a person's skills in a particular area including mobility, fitness and exercise,
communication and language, activities of daily living, access at home and in the community, equipment needs,
work, recreation and leisure.
Intervention
Where appropriate, Specialist Services staff may design and implement programs to meet the individual needs
of clients in these areas.
Support for Families and Carers
Support is provided to families and carers. This may include advice and assistance about services and
equipment to help at home or assist with developing a home-based program.
Training and Staff Development
The Specialist Services team can support staff and provide training to agencies who provide services to
people with multiple and physical disabilities.
Community Inclusion
Assistance and consultation can be provided to community organisations and services on how to include people
with multiple and physical disabilities in their own communities.
