New Chief Executive Officer for Scope
The Scope Board of Directors, with great pleasure, announces the appointment of Diana Heggie as the new Chief Executive Officer of Scope.
The recruitment process, which was extensive, was handled through an international recruitment firm and attracted interest from a strong field of candidates from around the country. Scope was looking for a high level of strong leadership for the new head of the organisation, together with the ability to oversee commercial development and greater opportunities for representation and advocacy.
Well-known and highly respected in the disability sector, Diana Heggie was previously General Manager of Client Services and served as Deputy CEO for Scope. She came to Australia from Ireland as a physiotherapist in 1986, and first worked for Scope in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
Diana Heggie has since been at the forefront of historic changes to services for Victorians with disabilities. Under her stewardship, Scope has completely revamped its model of service delivery, ensuring that people with disabilities can access services in community settings and more fully participate in the community. The development of new and innovative services, improvements to the quality and standard of care, and the promotion of key community partnerships for disability services were all introduced while Ms. Heggie was responsible for Scope services across the State.
A passionate advocate of disability rights, Diana Heggie is committed to ensuring that Victoria is at the leading edge of community inclusiveness for all people with disability.
“Scope will continue to have a strong focus on people with disability having opportunities to live meaningful lives in the local community,” Ms. Heggie said.
“If a society is to be informed and progressive, it is imperative to understand the immense value that people of all abilities are willing and able to contribute. As a leading disability service provider, that focus has been and will continue to be embedded at every level of Scope’s work,” she said.
