Helping Children with Autism  

Scope provides therapy and educational services to children and their families who are eligible for the Federal Government’s Helping Children with Autism package (HCWA).

HCWA provides support and services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs).

HCWA initiatives include support for parents, families, carers and children from Indigenous backgrounds, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds and those living in rural and remote areas.

Who can access HCWA?

Children up to the age of 7 years, who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This includes diagnosis of

• Autistic Disorder
• Asperger’s Disorder
• Rett’s Disorder
• Childhood Disintegrative Disorder
• Pervasive Developmental Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS)

Victorian families must contact Autism Victoria on 1300 308 699 to speak with an Autism Advisor for more information on eligibility to this program. Eligible children may receive up to $12,000 which can be spent until the child turns 7 (but no more than $6000 in a financial year).

Families can look on the FaHCSIA website to determine which services they may choose to purchase.

Services we offer

Scope will tailor a program to suit your individual needs.

Therapy, held in both individual and group settings, can include:

• Occupational therapy
• Speech pathology
• Psychology
• Education

Programs include:

• Transition to school assistance

Groups include:

• Readiness for school
• Social skills/ making friends 
• Anxiety and sensory groups
• Learn to play
• Splash/play and swim

Scope runs groups according to demand, so please contact your local Scope team to discuss your needs.

Where does Scope provide services? 

Scope offers therapy services wherever it suits you, across Victoria, including:

• Home
• Kindergarten
• Childcare centre
• School
• Scope centres  

What does it cost?

Individual Therapy

• At one of our centres throughout Victoria - $152 per hour
• In the community – $199 per hour
