Silver Certificate (Secondary Schools only)

Scope Young Ambassadors Silver Certificate Community Project program is a unique disability education and youth leadership development program that promotes more welcoming and inclusive communities.

Young participants spend time with people with a disability and actively participate in their local community in health and wellbeing activities.  Participants and staff are supported by the SYA Silver Community Project Coordinator who facilitates, manages and maintains the partnerships between all stakeholders in a project.

SYA Silver Community Projects are designed to encourage young people to create and project-manage a diverse range of activities to promote social issues of harmony in their local community and requires them to work in partnership with others.

Students emerge from the program with greater maturity and self confidence in dealing with diversity and are ambassadors for people with a disability within their peer, family and community groups.  The important message that young people receive is that it is OK to be different.
