NECAS Open Day for People with Communication Difficulties 

Do you want to find out about different communication aids, e.g. timetables, budget boards, communication boards and books?

Do you need a communication aid to help you access the community, tell people about yourself or make choices?

Do you want to design your own communication aid?

The Non-electronic Communication Aid Scheme will work with you to show you:

  • what communication aids are available
  • how to design your own communication aid
  • how submit a NECAS Service Request Form. 

Please bring:

  • a support person or family member if you need help you on the day
  • any photos on USB stick that you want to use  

Audience

  • Adults who are a permanent resident of Victoria and hold a Medicare card
  • Adults who have complex communication needs (cannot speak or speech that is difficult to understand)
  • Adults who are able to access services under the Disability Act (2006) 

People who are NOT eligible to receive funding through the Non-Electronic Communication Aids Scheme include:

  • people eligible for supports through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) or the Transport Accident Commission (TAC)
  • people who receive support through compensation related to their disability
  • pre-school and school aged children (Children who are transitioning from school to an adult placement may be considered on an individual basis.) 

Presenter 

Naomi Rezzani

Naomi Rezzani is a full time Speech Pathologist at the Communication Resource Centre. Naomi coordinates the Non-electronic Communication Aid Scheme. Her other roles include accessible written information, consultancy to disability organisations, supporting adults with communication difficulties and their communication partners and community capacity building initiatives.
