Everyone can share stories

Sharing stories are part of everyday life.  We do this in many ways such as chatting to friends, reading books, watching movies, attending plays and interacting with others via email or Skype. How do we make stories come alive for people who have profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD)? This one day workshop will show you how to develop individualised sensory-focused story experiences for people with PIMD.

This workshop will provide:

Information about

  • the concept of sensory-focused story experiences
  • the role of the senses and the  impact of sensory processing disorders on the ability to participate in everyday activities
  • sensory assessments
  • sensory-focused story resources

and strategies for

  • enhancing sensory performance
  • formatting sensory-focused story resources
  • developing other sensory-focused activities

The practical component of this workshop provides you with the opportunity to develop a  sensory-focused story experience for someone you support.
