Gabriel’s Story

Our four-year-old son Gabriel has Down syndrome. Gabriel also had heart surgery at 15 months old, and due to complications from the surgery his motor skills were developmentally delayed.

The most important thing for us as a family is to provide Gabriel with a loving and supportive environment. Our family has been supported by Scope’s Early Childhood Intervention Services (ECIS) since we moved to Geelong a year ago.

ECIS provide Gabriel with a range of services vital to his development, including physiotherapy and speech pathology. Through the physiotherapy services Gabriel is slowly learning to walk.

Scope’s services have been amazing, I can’t sing Scope’s praises highly enough. Scope have armed us as parents with the tools to best support Gabriel. Their support has been so invaluable in educating me about how to best support my son.
