GISS Workshops
In response to an identified need GISS in Victoria developed a half day workshop suitable for anyone who supports or assists someone with a gastrostomy or jejunostomy. Participants include disability support workers, teachers, kindergarten and childcare workers, speech pathologists, dietitians, family and friends of people who have a gastrostomy or jejunostomy.
The competency based session includes:
- Reasons for gastrostomy or jejunostomy
- Emotional and social issues
- Types of tubes
- Care of tube and stoma
- Methods of delivery
- Formulas
- Modified medication management
- Information to seek from medical team
- Troubleshooting
On successful completion of the workshop, which includes a theory and practical assessment, participants will be presented with a certificate.
There are two options for undertaking this training:
- Attend one of our Training calendar sessions. Bookings essential.
- Book a whole service session at a venue of your choice for a maximum of 15 participants.
