Scope Welcomes Travel Access Pass Launch
Scope CEO Diana Heggie has congratulated the Transport Ticketing Authority for seeking the voice of people with a disability in the development of the Travel Access Card, launched today.
Ms Heggie said the vital inclusion of people with a disability in the consultation, development and trialling of the card has created more opportunities for Victorians to access public transport.
``To best understand how to create fully inclusive and welcoming communities, it is essential that we seek the voice of people with a disability,’’ Ms Heggie said.
``As a result of listening to people with a disability, the Travel Access Card has created better access to public transport, allowing more people to participate in their community of choice.’’
The Travel Access Card has been designed for people with permanent disabilities, which prevent them from reaching ticket machines or barriers, as well as people with intellectual disabilities.
Ms Heggie said the card also took the worry out of using public transport for the eligible people who had previously feared being fined for not having a ticket, or being able to validate their ticket.
``Scope strives to identify opportunities that promote inclusive and welcoming communities for people with a disability, and we will continue to welcome any progress that creates equal accessibility to all Victorians,’’ she said.
