Funding Boost Gives Clients More Scope
Leading Victorian disability service provider Scope has welcomed the State Government’s funding boost to local disability services, saying it will give clients more control over their lives.
Scope chief executive officer Diana Heggie said Scope’s share in the much needed $824,000 extra funding would provide the not-for-profit organisation with better access to resources aimed at expanding its individualised services.
``Scope strives to create opportunities to improve the quality of life of people with a disability. These grants will enable Scope to enhance its Day and Lifestyle Options service, which in turn will make a real difference to the everyday lives of the individuals that it supports,’’ Ms Heggie said.
``This means that our clients will have greater opportunities to pursue their individual interests and make choices about how they live their lives.’’
Ms Heggie said that Scope would use the funds to increase resources such as communication tools to support people with complex communication needs and person-centred planning options.
The funding boost was granted to Scope’s services in the Barwon, Southern and Eastern Regions.
Scope’s Day and Lifestyle Options service aims to provide opportunities for people with a disability to enjoy activities that meet their individual lifestyle needs.
Scope supports more than 7000 adults and children with disabilities across Victoria through specialist therapy services, accommodation, employment and respite.
Day and Lifestyle Options services are provided in most regions.
