Cameron Ling Visits Scope’s Shannon Park Industries
For immediate release: Wednesday 22nd June 2011
Cameron Ling (Geelong Football Club) and Supported Employees at Scope’s Shannon Park Industries.
Supported Employees at Scope’s Shannon Park Industries are excitedly awaiting the visit of Cameron Ling, Geelong Cats player, on 24 June 2011. Ling will be visiting the site to say hello to the Supported Employees, many of whom are dedicated Geelong Cats supporters.
The visit has been organised by Frank Costa on behalf of the Scope @ Shannon Park Appeal Committee. Frank decided to organise Ling’s visit after his trip to Shannon Park Industries last week, when he saw the positive impact that Shannon Park Industries has for people with a disability and the wider Geelong community.
Shannon Park Industries is an Australian Disability Enterprise that employees people with varying levels of ability. The business has a dual focus on providing meaningful employment for Supported Employees, while providing a sustainable quality service to commercial customers. There are 31 Supported Employees at Shannon Park Industries with Major Customers including CSR, Cotton On, Caron and Bic.
The Scope @ Shannon Appeal is an opportunity for members of the Geelong community and their businesses to support the redevelopment of Scope’s Shannon Park Centre. Shannon Park Centre is the only service for people with physical disabilities and complex needs in the Greater Geelong district.
The new centre will be built on the current Shannon Avenue, Newtown site and be operational early 2012.
Scope needs the communities support throughout 2011 to raise the additional $1.245 million needed for the redevelopment.
