Partnership Creates Access Travel Pass
Adam Barry is social, energetic and a passionate supporter of the Saints. He also has Cerebral Palsy, a condition that affects his speech and mobility.
His electronic communication board may speak out his words, but Adam’s expressive eyes shout of his enthusiasm for life.
Until recently, Adam was caught between following his zest for interacting in the community and concern over not being able to access ticketing machines for the trains that he catches to get around.
Adam recently worked in consultation with the Public Transport Ticketing Authority to develop a solution for people who are not able to use the current system.
Through providing feedback and trialling the system, Adam has helped to create a way for eligible people with a disability to access public transport using the Access Travel Pass.
Thanks to Adam’s valuable work with the Authority, more people can confidently participate in the broader community.
The Access Travel Pass has been designed for people who have a permanent physical or intellectual disability, which prevents them using the current ticketing system, to access public transport.
