A day with Shane Warne

Thank you so much to both Scope and the Shane Warne Foundation for giving our family the opportunity to participate in the recent Family Day at Crown Casino.

To describe our 11-year old son Aidan as a sports fanatic would be an understatement. No sport can go unsupported, including lawn bowls. The thrill and the excitement of a moving car, ball, bat or body gives Aidan a huge buzz.

Born with Cerebral Palsy, Aidan manages to bowl a mean ball and has been known to pursue moving objects at a great pace with a ferocious desire to kick them in his walker.

Aidan’s sporting heroes are both Shane Warne and Shane Crawford. What a moment for both Aidan and his brother Ryan to meet the ultimate cricket legend “Warnie’’ when we had the opportunity to participate in a recent family day organised by the Shane Warne Foundation at Crown Casino.

It was a fabulous day, with lots of fun activities, yummy food, magicians, face painters and time in Galactic Circus. And yes, bowling and motor bike racing were high on the agenda. The boys loved meeting Shane, chatting about the Saints and what car he drives. They were very impressed, and so were we as parents. What an inspiration Shane Warne is, using both his business and individual persona to support children and families in need through the Foundation.

A fabulous and memorable day was had by all and we can’t thank you, Scope and the Shane Warne Foundation, enough for making it happen. We have some wonderful photos and of course a signed cricket bat and ball to treasure forever.
