Scope's Respite Campaign

“We’ve been caring for our beautiful daughter Karen for 33 years, and only one organisation can provide her with the care and love that we do. That’s Scope.” - Helen, mother of Karen 33, who has cerebral palsy.

Help us replace our children and adult respite facilities

Scope needs your help to raise $690,000 to replace our children and adult respite facilities, so we can provide the best possible care and support for families of a child with a disability.

Helen and Paul Struc have been lovingly supporting & caring for their daughter Karen for 33 years.

Karen is a bright and happy women who enjoys being with her family and enjoys the company of others.

For 33 years, from 6:30 am when Karen usually wakes up until the time she goes to bed, Paul and Helen are on the go. Without the ability to bear her own weight, the job of lifting Karen has gone to 63 year-old Paul. He can’t rely on Helen for physical help given that she now has a serious knee injury - one that requires surgery.

The team at Scope wants to offer more parents like Paul and Helen short-term respite care, this will allow Paul and Helen to recharge their batteries, so they can continue their lifetime of care and support for Karen

The children and adult respite facilities give people like Karen a place they will be cared for in the best possible way, and where their parents can put complete trust in the care on offer, for a week or month at a time.

“Trust is something that happens over a period of time and to feel comfortable with someone else, that doesn’t happen straight away. So, it's something that develops as you get to know the people.” Helen reveals.

Your donation will provide much needed assurance to more parents with children like Karen that they will be taken care of. Donate here today.

Your donation will help them to live their life without fear or worry, if only for a short moment.
