Plate Spinning and Gravity-Defying Children
A small group of thrill-seeking youngsters from Scope’s Early Childhood Intervention Services dabbled in circus acrobatics to put the spotlight on the achievements of people with Cerebral Palsy on Tuesday, August 4.
The buzzing apprentices were taught the ropes by Circus Oz trainers as they catapulted into the fantasy world of plate spinning, tissu tricks and rolls.
The circus workshop was held to mark National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week, and aimed to highlight that people with Cerebral Palsy dream, aspire and achieve just like many other Australians.
While still young, each of the children participating in the eye-catching antics has already displayed a conquering spirit through their determination to achieve skills, like stepping out into the world with the support of a Hart Walker, riding a bike or starting kinder.
They have also had the courage to publicly share their personal stories to help promote disability awareness issues, with the hope of making a difference to the lives of the 34,000 Australians who have Cerebral Palsy as well as people with other disabilities.
