The Terrifics
On Friday 15th of June Grit Media will launch their inaugural performance and awards night The Terrifics.
In an Australian first, this spectacular night will feature artists from across the creative spectrum. MC is the ABC’s fabulous Stella Young, a journalist for ABC’s only disability online news service, Ramp Up and a previous presenter/comedian on Channel 31’s, No Limits.
“Stella Young gives a great comic take on the challenges she faces with her disability,” Herald Sun.
Alongside Stella is a smashing line up. Heidi Everett and her band performing beautiful country tunes, the rockin’ indie man Brian Henry Hooper and his outfit, and the circus theatrics of the wonderful Emma Jane Hawkins. To open the night we are lucky to have the hot dancers from Emotion 21, who are about to head over to South Africa to launch the World Down Syndrome Conference.
Headline act of the evening is the highly lauded recording and performance band - Rudely Interrupted.
“For people with disabilities there is too little diversity in the way Australian society is represented whether in theatre, film or TV. This night is a chance to present awards to outstanding individuals that have given back to the disability community and to showcase some very entertaining and engaging acts,” said Grit Media CEO Sarah Barton.
Held at the iconic Caravan Music Club in Melbourne’s South East suburb of Oakleigh, The Terrifics showcase night will also be an opportunity for the people within the disability community and beyond to meet a range of media professionals and have a night of fun and entertainment.
Grit Media is a not for profit organisation that celebrates and promotes talented people with a disability and produces the long running and successful community television show No Limits. After more than eight years on community television across Australia, No Limits is now also broadcast in New Zealand, Canada and the South Pacific.
So how terrific is all of that!!
