Harness Safety

Image showing clear use of an effective harness

Wheelchair and seating harnesses can be dangerous if they are not prescribed and used properly.
There have been a number of reported deaths resulting from strangulation caused by a harness.
Scope has recently coordinated a Victorian-wide harness safety working group at the request of Department of Human Services.
The group has developed guidelines for prescribers and an information brochure for harness users and those who support them. Copies of the documents are available on this page for download.
